If the top of the roof sags in the center then you will probably want to install collar ties and possibly support posts under the ridge board. Please note if tresses are built properly with collar ties ridge supports should not be needed.
If the top line of the roof looks straight and there are one or two large sags on the sloped sides then it's almost certainly a lack of collar ties.
On the other hand if the top line is straight and there are several sags in the sloped sides the rafters are likely spaced to far apart.
